Express Removals International

I am dissappointed with the service I recieved from this company and would recomend you take your business elsewhere. I ALWAYS had to intiate contact them to check on the progress of my shipment and always got a different rep responding. While I did receive my goods at the other end in an acceptable condition, I was charged for a greater volume then I actually shipped and then was stubbonly refused a refund in spite of proof I sent substantiating my claim.   It seems they did not even bother to take the time to measure my consignment, leaving that to another third party that subsequently over estimated the volume.  They then blamed the over estimation on the third party company conveniently claiming it was beyond their control and flatly refusing to take any responsibility for their actions.  I consider this a very cheap trick - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

The customer service at Express Removals is shocking. I first tried booking from their Hastings branch, they never replied to my voicemails or emails, so I decided to book a house visit for a quote with the Tunbridge Wells branch. They phoned on the day to change the appointment time but the time was not convenient as I was attending a hospital appointment, so they offered to come to quote just ONE WEEK before my removal date, which would have left me unable to go elsewhere if the quote was unreasonable and they do not book your removals until you pay (after the quote) so it could have been possible that they would no longer be available. I asked them to either attend at the agreed time or by the end of that week. They never replied or arrived so we booked with a reliable company. I reccommend trying any other company before Express Removals.

Shocking company. Do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague. They held us to ransom and demanded more cash when they refused to come up our lane (other large wagons have made it no problems). Then they did nothing to sort the problem. it was up to us. To make matters even worse they then demanded another £450 plus VAT and the boss (who wouldn't even speak to us) told then to stop working til we paid..WTF. I almost called the police.
Now we are unpacking and finding lots of damage including dents and scratches on our new fridge freezer. I have never been so disgusted with a company. I hope they fail.

Within half an hour of packing black bags at the back of van - as there were some loose bits in these bags of clothes, the removal man said we would have to write a disclaimer. I should have smelt a rat straight away. On off loading the next day there were dents in the fridge freezer broken ornaments ,lamps., one of which was worth quite a bit if money. At least two lampshades were crushed - boxes had obviously been placed on top of other boxes. We had gone through the largest size of bubble wrap and half again in packing and in my opinion these guys were just piling things in and off the wagon carelessly. I was gutted! Personally I would never recommend this firm to anyone.

They initially turned up with a truck that was too small and with insufficient boxes and wrapping. As the day went on more staff turned up and the final pallet was done in a rush without any regard for my belongings. (they even packed my suitcase, which I needed, without asking and had to retrieve it from the truck at their depot). Valuable pictures were wedged in between heavy items of furniture, no covers were placed on my table or other furniture as they had run out.
When this pallet was opened at the other end it was carnage. Items looked as if they had been thrown in. 7 large prints and one original oil painting were smashed or damaged; an antique wooden towel rail was smashed into pieces; lamp broken; table top scratched; wardrobe damaged beyond repair.
I will have to claim on my insurance even although this was entirely due to negligence on their behalf. I would never use them again and will certainly never recommend them to anyone else. A man and a van would have been cheaper and would probably have provided a better service than this shower!
